Practical information for Kusadasi
Useful basics for your visit. Rules and opening hours can change, so check details locally when it matters.
Money and cards
The currency in Turkey is the Turkish lira (TRY). Cards are accepted in most shops, restaurants and hotels; small kiosks and market stalls may prefer cash.
With us you can pay on the day in cash or by card, or online with a payment link.
ATMs
There are cash machines in the town centre and near the seafront. Most offer an English menu. Your own bank may charge a fee for withdrawals abroad, so check before you travel.
Tipping
Tipping is appreciated but not compulsory. If you were happy with the service, a tip for your guide, driver or waiter is a kind gesture; the amount is up to you.
What to wear
- Ephesus and other ancient sites: comfortable closed shoes (the old streets are stone and can be slippery), a hat, sun cream and water. There is little shade at midday.
- Mosques: shoulders and knees covered; women cover their hair. Shoes are taken off at the entrance.
- Quad and buggy safari: clothes that can get dusty or muddy, closed shoes and sunglasses.
Religious holidays
The dates of Ramadan and the two religious holidays (bayram) move every year with the lunar calendar. Tourist services in Kusadasi usually continue as normal, but some offices and banks close on public holidays and the roads can be busier. Check the dates for the year of your visit.
Arriving at the cruise port
The cruise port is in the centre of Kusadasi. From the port exit you can walk to the seafront and the shopping streets. Our safari pickup point, Kervansaray, is about 50 m from the exit.
Pharmacies and emergencies
- Pharmacies are marked with a red letter E. Outside normal hours, a duty pharmacy in each area stays open; the address is posted on pharmacy doors.
- The emergency number in Turkey is 112.
Drinking water
Most visitors drink bottled water, which is sold everywhere. Bring a bottle on day trips, especially in summer.
